🏷️ Metadata Magic: Build a Personal “Quick‑Tag” Template—No Admin Ticket Needed

Metadata may sound geeky, but it’s the secret sauce that powers instant search results. 🪄 Here’s how any Laserfiche user can build a one‑click “Quick‑Tag” to speed filing—no IT help desk required.

Why Quick‑Tag? 🤔

  • Consistency: Everyone uses the same field names.

  • Speed: Tag whole batches in a single click.

  • Accuracy: Fewer typos = better search results.

Create Your Template

  1. Open Template Manager
    In the desktop or web client, navigate Tools > Template Designer. 🛠️

  2. Click “New Template”
    Give it a friendly name like “AP Invoices â€“ Quick”. 📝

  3. Add Fields

    • Vendor (Pick List)

    • Invoice Date (Date)

    • Amount (Currency)

    • Department (Dropdown)
      Use Default Values or Regex Masks to keep entries clean. đź§˝

  4. Save & Share
    Check “Allow all users” if teammates should use it, or keep it private.

Apply in a Flash ⚡

  • Drag‑drop files onto the repository explorer.

  • In the import dialog, select your template.

  • Hit Apply to All ✔️ to stamp every document in the batch.
